Good Evening All,

I'm not an electrician but I'd like to pick the brains of those that are please. Note I intend getting a qualified electrician to do the installation work, this is not a DIY job.

I have a SolarEdge based 10.7kW Solar PV system and a Tesla PW2 c/w Gateway and am export limited to 7.4kW by my DNO (SSEN).

The house has a CTC GSi12 GSHP and I'm looking to add 4 x PylonTech US5000 batteries c/w a suitable charger/ inverter which I'll charge on Octopus Go or Economy 7.

The question is how difficult is it to simply connect this to the existing system? I'm aware there is a requirement to notify the DNO as I'm adding extra 'generating' capacity to an existing system. My main concern is that I don't want to damage the PW2. I have read somewhere that if I install the CT for the new inverter/ charger upstream of the one for the PW2 then everything should work fine i.e. the extra batteries will discharge first followed by the PW2???

If there are going to be problems integrating the extra battery capacity with the PW2 then is it possible to run a separate cable through to the GSHP and have it powered by the additional batteries from say 07:30 in the morning until a certain SOC is achieved and then go back to 'normal' grid supply? Is there a suitable 'switch' that will do this and that will act fast enough that the heat pump will keep going?

Any comments/ advice welcome.

Regards

Richard
