Calling any trainees out there, If you don't already have access then i suggest that it is well worth joining the forums trainee section. A very helpful place to ask questions and get knowledgeable feedback from the mentors.

Plus there are competitions running regularly and a chance to win tools/resources.

PM one of the mods for access if any of you are interested.

All Trainees are welcome, and will have a great experience in there.
There is always something good happening in the trainee section, everything from free advice , to competitions with prizes.
Or just pop in and have a chat and relax.
It is getting more and more popular by the day.

Please remember ...Unlike the open forum, the Trainee section is only open to Trainees and selected mentors...so any questions or posts will never be met with abuse or criticism. We all have to start our path some where, so feel free to start yours here.....Look forward to helping you all...Tazz

Hi all i probie here. Been at college one night a week for a year, have one year left at level 2 and then i am on to level 3. I have just got a job as a sparkies mate for fischer future heat. only been there 2 weeks and not sure what i am going to learn yet as all i seem to do is fetch and carry from the van. I dont mind this as long as i am given the chance to learn too. Ideally i would prefere a role with a company/sparkie where i get to practice my skills on the job. Anyway i am sure something will come up. I look forward to chatting to you all.

Welcome Matthew, if you haven't already, fill in the details in the thread above to get access to the trainee section. Well worth it. Enjoy the knowledge in this place.

It has been for me and I can't tell you how useful it has been - questions in my head go in the search bar and are answered because someone posted that previous question. It's not just the regs type questions but comes done to those "how best to do this" questions which you won't read in a text book and you may not even pick up watching over someone's shoulder. That's why every now and again I get a bit 'thanky' at the forum!

Hi guys! Just to introduce myself, I will probably be asking advice and a few opinions from time to time so bare with me as some questions may sound silly! I have completed my Level 2 in electrical instillations and I am currently studying the Level 3 and have a few assignments with scenarios based on plans and there are a few that I am not sure how to interpret the questions or I am second guessing my answers and need a little advice! I Hope you more experienced electricians will be able to help! Thanks in advance! :)

Hello, having trouble understanding how i apply to join this forum, if i fill out all of the details as a thred my address and details will all be public surely?

No, don't worry it can only be seen you and staff so it is safe. once it is there no other members have permission to view it, It's like the trainee forum itself and the electricians arms etc it is only visible if you have the access permissions.

What with the 17th exam? just refer to the contents page at the front of the book, this will lead you to where the answers are, no need to stick labels everywhere, remember the questions will refer to sections, not sure what the percentage per part is your Lecturer should be able to tell you. Read the paper first answer what you know and then tackle the rest, if you finish early DONT submit your paper straight away, leave it until you have checked and rechecked surprising how many errors you can come across by looking, once you are sure then submit your paper, good luck it's apiece of cake.

Hi guys what is the process of joining the trainee forum i understand you need to do a new thread but what is it im telling you guys?

Hi everyone.
I am new to this forum, working in the electrical industry for several years, just doing nvq level 3. Looking forward to get some advice from real electricians. This forum seems realy great and helpful.

might be a bit dumbo but where do I copy and paste the form to?Having a brain freeze
Copy the form details above, click on the link in Resu's post (where it says this link) and that will take you to the Apply to Gain Access to Trainee-Only Forum, click on the orange button labelled post new thread, Type a title such as requesting access in the thread title bar, then in the blank space below the toolbar paste the previously copied form information and fill in the details, then click on create thread.
Await access.

Hi! I made thread and posted to join trainee forum. It was on Tuesday last week. How long usually need waiting to get answer? Thanks.

How do i post my question on this forum?
Welcome to the forum.
If you wish to post a question in the trainee forum you first have to apply to gain access and prove you are on an electrical training course.
If you follow the instructions given in the posts above then the staff will let you know once access is granted, then you will be able to access the trainee forum in the same way as any other section and post your question.

so its only for people who in electrical school? There is no support for self learned people? I mean i need simple advice with size of cable i need to use

If you are not in training then you can just ask in the diy section of the forum open to all.
Cable size is dependant on load, cable length, installation method, protective device size, means of earthing and cable type.

You need to provide some details of your experience ,training that you can input into your profile, the consideration as to whether you can be granted access into the trainee area, good luck.

2330 level 2/3 + 17th edition completed however 4 years back. Course was completed at Derby college roundhouse. 17th edition at bolsover college.

I'm able to install motorised satellite dish. Fairly knowledgeable in the satellite field.

Competant hand at networking, Poe systems, CCTV.

I'm looking for on site training. Happily fund course fees myself. I'm going to enroll on to a course next month.

The trainee forum is there to be a safe place for people enrolled on training courses to ask any level of question they like.
This is to help those on courses.
Unfortunately if you are not on a course at the moment you would not be able to join that section. However you can ask questions in general areas of the forum and once you are enrolled on a suitable course go to the apply to gain access area and fill in your details, the moderators will then grant access if you are on a valid course.
