Hi guys, just dropped into a care home and they have a 24v fail safe door catch that’s intermittent not releasing so dropped into a supplier on my way home to grab a replacement and was going to go in tomorrow to swap it over.

Just looked at the new catch and it’s a 12v latch! Tried calling the supplier to see if they have a 24v and getting no answer

Will the 12v catch be ok to use or should I blast back in the morning and grab a 24v?

It’s a real pain in the --- as it will be at least an hour or so round trip.
Cheers!

It’ll depend on the controller. But there might be a jumper setting or dip switches for the latches output to be 12 or 24 volt.

Or it doesn’t…. And feeding a 12v coil in the latch with 24v will reduce its lifespan to about 5 minutes.
