Discuss Good Morning Thread - Come say good morning, tell us what you've got on today. :) in the The Electrical Exchange area at ElectriciansForums.net

We have this thread on TilersForums.com and it's just been restarted because the old thread had 20,000 replies and 500,000 views. And there were 700 pages. Started to lag a bit on slow connections.

I think we had a bash of this before, but I can't find the thread, so thought I'd start another one off.

If you have time in the mornings, come post in the thread before you head off to work, let us know what you've got on and what the weather is like in your area etc. Anything at all is fine. :)

Posts and likes get counted towards your total stats in this thread.

So GOOOD MORNING PEOPLE - WEATHER IS NICE TODAY IN STOKE. I'M THANKFUL IT'S FRIDAY, HAD A RUBBISH WEEK. THANK GOD IT'S OVER.

Annual isn't too bad. Usually around 25k. Most of the time I drive to a hotel Sunday/Monday and then it's just short trips hotel to site and back then Friday drive home. Full EV would be no good. I would spend too much time charging. Plus, not sure if there is a full EV Transit Custom

Maybe get one of those 60 mile range Transporters and you could write a book about motorway services.

Indeed, it's surprisingly addictive! Also, Flight Focus 365 on You Tube...can't believe how much time I waste watching planes taking off or landing at Heathrow...I've imposed a 1 week ban on it!

Well, I finished my today job at around 10:30. Takes about 1 1/2 hours to get to the next Premier Inn so I've been killing time wandering around Meadowhall(?) shopping centre and wondering why people enjoy going to those places.

Currently sifting through CV's for an oppo to take around Europe with me for a month. Double challenge of trying to find someone not only capable but also sociable/personal enough to pretty much live in each others pockets out on the road (and with others, too, there'll be 12-16 people as a touring party). Also trying to find someone younger who could do with the opportunity maybe more than others - a bit PC, I know, Another colleague on the project and I are both agreed that we'd rather give the role to a deserving younger female (if one is of equal merit, naturally...) than some cliched mid 20's middle class white kid who'll do alright on his own anyway. Father of a daughter, etc. It an earnest minefield!

I use FlightRadar24 You can track flights all over the world. There's currently a 42 year old Piper PA-38-112 flying overhead at 1,500ft and descending.

You should have called at the pub on Sheffield train station. A really good selection of ales there and the original old tiles etc from when it was a ticket office.

I didn't go in to Sheffield plus I don't drink alcohol  I did stop off at the Woodhead tunnels on the A628(?). Took some pictures and went for a nice walk. My dog would have loved it. I would love to get into those tunnels. Walking old rail tunnels is a bit of a (sad) hobby of mine. The two old tunnels are sealed and the new tunnel has NG 400kV cables going through it.

Did you see the Dunford Bridge end where the 3 tunnel portals are? They've just buried the big grid cables underground and got rid of the pylons.

I took an old mate of mines 1.3 old kia for MOT and it wouldn't start and the drivers door latch broke so I had to drive it (only a mile or so) using washing line holding the door handle to the head rest.

I think it'll need more than a MOT.
It also didn't start, first time ever that it's not started.

Think I'm jinxed today I might go back bed.

Is that the Tintwhistle (I love the name of that place) or the Sheffield side? There's 3 portals at the end I was but I assume theres 3 the other end too.

About half 7 last night, the lights flickered, and we were delved into darkness.
Not just us, the neighbours, the streetlights, half our village and several nearby.

We had to…. God forbid…. Talk to each other!

“What about the freezer?”

“It’ll be fine with the door shut”

“Can I use the toilet?”

“Of course, but there’s no light”

“Can we watch Celebrity Big Brother?”

“No…. Even if the power comes back on… No!”

SPN got us back on by half 9… so nothing desperate… but it did make me think…
so handy we have a phone almost glued to our hands…. Got a torch on it. Although not one of us had over 30% battery

We had a power outage about a year or so back that lasted three days. We were OK ish as we’ve got a gravity fed oil Rayburn in the kitchen and a log burner so heat/hot water and cooking we had, and candles by night, charged up mobiles etc in vehicles. But I promised myself I’d buy a generator for home which I’ve still not done - a small 40KVA and I could have happily powered us and all our neighbours.

I’m actually doing some minor house bashing today - dropping a fused spur onto a half landing for a stair lift at my mums place. Have to laugh, though, as I know the inner walls are all hollow block so will be treading lightly in chopping in - doubt very much that the guy from the stairlift company who did their survey knew to allow for that - really don’t think they’ll have a happy time with their fixings!!

OOh I used to love meadowhall - that was a treat going there when I was growing up. I used to like the little fake cobbled street part near to the food court :)

Yesterday I went to give blood and today I am catching up on emails, PMs and stuff like that.

Luckily because I have bad night vision we have a few torches dotted about the house.

Have to say though, Celebrity BB Is quite entertaining this year. And Thursdays it is the apprentice (Dare I ask if anyone watches that?)

The only thing entertaining about big brother is louis walsh slagging off all his ex-clients.... its as if he doesn't realise there's cameras and mics there at all.

I here Jedward are not at all pleased.

I was supposed to be at blood doners a few days ago.... but didn't get the reminder in time and was busy with another appointment.... Namely taking number 2 daughter to her driving theory test.... Which i'm pleased to say she passed.

What did this daughter do that you feel the need to describe her in such derogatory terms?

So on a Friday we have a little tradition that neither of us can say when we started it - 2p's friday: Prosecco & Pizza. Nothing elaborate or expensive, but the end of every week we find something positive that's happened, or some other reason, to toast the end of the week. Sometimes it's something obvious, sometimes it's as little as not having actually killed each other over an argument 🤣 and still being together, but it's just a moment of stillness and acknowledgement of the challenges that life brings along with the joy of succeeding. And that's something that we can do even when I'm away - a quick video call, each of us with a glass of something (always interesting if it happens to be breakfast in my time zone...). And then when I'm home we do the Pizza bit - I'll be knocking up some dough to start proving in a bit, and then we each have a pizza-off as to who can make the prettiest or tastiest pizza whilst doing some kitchen disco. Before then collapsing in front of some boxset!

Must be Friday…..

So sunny, I cleaned out the hot tub at the weekend. Fresh water, heated it up, and now high as a kite on chlorine fumes….

Converted some of my Tesco club card points into 3 free months of Disney plus. The youngest is happy with that because there’s some singers concert going to be on it….

Taylor Swift? Never heard of her. 🤣

She’s got tickets to see her in June…. So I don’t know why she wants to see it beforehand. 🤷‍♂️

Oh wow that is impressive she got tickets! I have seen the trailer for the concert but I haven't watched it.. I do love Disney plus, we watch all the Marvel stuff :)

Vaguely related to my morning... learn a bands setlist for a tour starts next month. So basically listening to music whilst I do some gardening chores and billing someone for the privilege 😎

Give us a couple of song titles off the list and we’ll have a guess which band it is….

Reminds me my brother has a handwritten Nirvana set list framed up on his wall, next to a pair of discarded Dave Grohl drumsticks from that time.

Tell me your guesses in the Arms... I'll post.

OOOHHHHHH I must know what band it is! goes to hunt out thread in Arms

Its pouring down here today after a couple of lovely days weather. I hope Summer is not over already.

Doing a bit of prep work for a db change at the weekend.

A nice new 3P glass fronted Hager board to go in place of a handful of mismatched single phase boards, to add rcd protection where it’s needed, and to remove rcd protection from where it’s not.

It’s the garage for the funeral directors I’ve worked at before, where they had a new mortuary fridge unit put in. That’s to come off RCD…. As they really don’t want that nuisance tripping.

I suggested adding SPD while we’re at it, but was declined. Lightning storms and corpses… what could possibly go wrong?…. Ask Dr Frankenstein.

Morning all, morning @littlespark mate. That sounds like a right job!! Do you get to see the after-life people? (don't want say the D word haha - even saying it creeps me out)

Nah… they’re either in a coffin, or in the fridge.
There is a chapel of rest and a proper “workshop” so to speak, but they lock the doors and warn me beforehand if I’m around.

Had a body within a month of starting working on the family caravan site. Not very nice experience.

Caravan site body??
yeh.... I was in the office, and we got a phone call up from one of the owners saying they couldn't get their husband to wake up... he'd collapsed in the bedroom....
Static caravans are not known for ample space, and the poor guy had fallen between the bed and the far wall.
I went down, collected our groundsman for assistance, as the receptionist phoned the local doctor. No way to revive, No way to extricate him without destroying the bed.
Doctor arrived, ambulance.... but was declared dead by the doc..... Seemingly died before he fell.... not when he landed.

The 10 years i was there, was at least 3 deaths on site.... but that was the only one i witnessed.

Most recent was one of the regulars... always in the bar...life of the party type guy... Died while walking home to his caravan.

Police erected a fence shield around the body, as it was unexpected death. Not what you want to see on a holiday park on a busy bank holiday weekend.

When you say family, do you mean they're a family? Or it is your family camp site like?
The camp site was owned by my father in law, started by his dad in 1963.
My wife, her sister, their dad and me all worked there until 2017 until he sold it, for health reasons, to a larger mob…. They turned a quiet, owners only site into an overpriced rent-a-skip place.

OMG I'm still thinking about these!!! Can't find a similar one in the shop so it looks like i'll be getting some dough this weekend.
It’s really not hard to make at all -
500g / 1lb bread or pizza flour, sachet of easy bake yeast, tablespoon of sugar, tea spoon of salt. Don’t put the salt directly onto yeast else you’ll kill it, but mix that dry lot all together, add a couple of decent glugs of olive oil, then slowly bring it all together adding warm (not hot) water a bit at a time until you’ve got a play-doh consistency (a food mixer with a dough hook makes this a doddle). Put in a large bowl somewhere warm covered with cling film and forget about it until it’s at least doubled in size (takes about 2 beers, I find…) Cut into two, bash stretch and roll out with your hands on a floury surface until it’s a big/thin as you want. That’s it. About an hour and probably 50p’s worth of dry ingredients (dough, obvs). We’ll each eat about half of one of those and then the rest becomes lunchables through the week.

The unlucky winner is a just starting out young Danish women (U.K. based). She’ll get the dubious benefits of my near undivided attention, 24/7, for six weeks and twelve countries. I’ll be encouraging her to ask any question, teach and mentor to the best of my questionable abilities and go the extra mile. I’m hoping for good things.

Morning (just about) people! Hope all is well. You know its Friday, right? Woop woop!

Who's working and who's off tomorrow?

I'm going to print this off and give it a go with my daughter this weekend! (Lous just said she will help lol 😆)

Do you think it's worth the extra effort over getting that ready made dough stuff?

aw how sad. Still at least if you go when you're on holiday you're hopefully happy and contented.

What a shame...

Had many a happy holiday in a caravan some of them these days are like mini mansions, so posh!!

@Dan and @Rockingit have been having visions of this pizza all week! Does it work with 00 flour?

Morning (just about) people! Hope all is well. You know its Friday, right? Woop woop!

Who's working and who's off tomorrow?
I'm working Sat & Sun at Pembroke power station. Been here since Monday, will be going home next Thursday then back again the following Tuesday ☹

Always. 1) kids love cooking and this if fun because you can actually watch the dough rise and 2) it’s healthier as there’s no preservative additives. Mine is now 13 and too cool to talk to Dad but wind back the clock and she absolutely loved getting covered in flour!
